Genre Research : 47 Meters Down

 

•What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? 

- 47 meters down includes suspense and tension. 

- The ending of the movie finishes with an unusual twist that the audience doesn't expect.

- The movie has a dialogue between the two girl characters. I will most likely include dialogue in my final task to give an idea of the conflict.
 
- Low-key lighting as they are filmed underwater in a darker setting.

- The Mis-en-scene in the movie adds to the thriller theme. This includes the SFX of blood and sharks. As well as the eerie underwater setting.


•What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like?
- At the end of the movie we realize that Lisa ( one of the girl divers) was hallucinating the whole time.

- The movie isn't explained so you have to guess what you think actually happened.

- The suspense that Lisa thought she and Kate were saved. But in reality, Lisa was the only one saved on the boat.

- The movie takes place on a normal day. The audience only expects what will happen from the movie trailers so they have no idea how it will play out. 


•What elements of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?

- Although I didn't necessarily hate it, the movie included a good amount of jump scares. For my film, I probably won't include much if not any. 

- The storyline seemed kind of long and there weren't as many sharks as the trailers showed.

Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

Storyboard scenes 1-12 In my first scene actor #1 will be in the frame either wide shot or mid shot. Actor #1 will be holding a picture and a behind the back angle will be slowly be zooming into her closer.  In the second scene actor #1 will still be in the shot but only from the waist up. As the song is starting out the main part says "do you remember" this will be symbolized through the video as Actor #1 is remembering her night on September 21st. Frame number 3 will now have a up close shot of her hand. When the shot is up close you can now clearly see the two people standing in the picture. The picture is warm and colorful and looks as if it was at a dance. The photo is know extreme up close and is in the same position. As the video goes on you can see that the photo comes to life. This photo is now "moving" because Actor #1 had a flashback. In scene 5 you can now fully see actor #2. This actor is seen putting on a record for the music. Scene 5 is still up for d...

Production Blog ~the importance of scenery

  In the process of my final task, props and settings will be very important. Many of my titles will fall onto props that I use. By this, I mean from the transitions of the different names. This will be done during my editing process. For example, when the camera cuts to a box, the titles may appear inside the box as the actor opens it. This creates fun transitions that use elements of the plot. During filming, I'll take multiple clips with different items. This allows me to have options for the backgrounds. The titles I include may also match the color of the prop. During certain scenes the setting may be the sky, so an example of matching titles is a dark blue or even white font color to represent clouds. Additionally, because the sequence is 2 minutes, the dialogue can't be very long. The dialogue will contribute to the setting and tone of the film. Creating a clear dialogue is the main objective.
