Final task: catching up

Image
Today I felt less pressure because I was able to work during break. I finished my storyboard and feel like I have a better idea of my filming. Putting this off was challenging and caught up with me. Now being on top of the one thing I was behind on helps the planning. I filmed some clips during the break but I have much more to do. My original plan was to have something incorporated in the film from when I was on the airplane. At the begging of my film, I was going to show the window and then open it with a title in the middle. However, I still filmed this but I’m not sure if it will make sense in my final task. This I will just upload onto my computer but I might not use it. There is a few more weeks until the end of the final task. This means timing is important. I want to be able to begin editing by this weekend or next. A lot of the clips o will film will have a lot of editing. This is going to take time because I haven’t tried some of the techniques before. The editing app I ...

Final task : Storyboard

Image
The plan for my storyboard is to help with both planning and editing. A storyboard will help me save time in filming. I know some of my ideas will change, but my drawings will be what I will most likely do. It took a while for me to complete this, coming up with ideas was difficult. However, doing it will help me towards the end.

Preparation Filming

Image
Today was the last day of school before break. Today I had a lacrosse game again but because it was a PSD I had extra time beforehand. I took out my camera and cleared space so when I travel I can film. Around 1:00 pm I filmed some clips outside and inside to try out different angles. Last project my camera wouldn't zoom in smoothly. So for this one, I took tester videos and learned to zoom in and keep a steady hand. Additionally, I had my mom help out with moving clips. For example, we filmed one as the door opened so we can see what it would look like on film. In the final task, I plan to have some Title names as the door opens. Then I had my mom sit in the driver's seat of her car, and we filmed clips of this. In the final task, there will be the same person looking at each other from different cars. For my idea to work the camera angle and person will have to be positioned correctly. When my mom was in the car we noticed that the windows are too tinted to be up. So when we...

The importance of time management

Image
As spring break is soon, now is my time to have extra planning. It still has not been my set date of filming so much of what I have done is preparation. I plan to do most of my filming over spring break. I think this way I will have all day free to do anything. I will also be able to use my actors in times they are also free. When it comes to editing the time isn't as strict. This is because the editing is all to myself, while the filming needs help from actors. Because last week I had surgery in the way, I didn't have time to do what I wanted. I feel pressure from the final task, but I know I will be able to figure out the timing. Even though I may be in a different area in the project I think this gave me more time to prepare. Next week I am going out of town so this actually gives me opportunities to film different sceneries. I will just be with my family inside so we are still being safe. Additionally, as I leave Florida to see my other Family this gives me more actors tha...

Choosing costumes and design

Image
Costumes and design bring a character to life. Today I looked for clothes of mine that I can use for my film. Many of the items I will need I already have so this helps me from not having to buy too much. In total there will be about 3-4 outfits at least. This will include actor #1, and a possible delivery man. Actors #1 costume will be simple/ casual. Because actor 1 will be in their "house" and just going through a normal day, they will not need to be in super formal clothes. The delivery man or woman on the other hand will need a uniform-type outfit. This can include a brand shirt, hat, pants, etc. Because it is the opening scene there would be no need for SFX yet. In my genre, this has to do with fake blood, makeup, silicone, etc. The plot of the pitch idea will play out but because of the time limit, it will be short. Additionally, designs will play in with the costumes. By this I mean the colors, edits, and background will play a role in the design. This can help wi...

Production Blog ~the importance of scenery

Image
In the process of my final task, props and settings will be very important. Many of my titles will fall onto props that I use. By this, I mean from the transitions of the different names. This will be done during my editing process. For example, when the camera cuts to a box, the titles may appear inside the box as the actor opens it. This creates fun transitions that use elements of the plot. During filming, I'll take multiple clips with different items. This allows me to have options for the backgrounds. The titles I include may also match the color of the prop. During certain scenes the setting may be the sky, so an example of matching titles is a dark blue or even white font color to represent clouds. Additionally, because the sequence is 2 minutes, the dialogue can't be very long. The dialogue will contribute to the setting and tone of the film. Creating a clear dialogue is the main objective. Moreover, the settings what the audience first sees. Because of this, I don...

Filming Blog - the right time-

Image
To begin my final task I will need to choose an acceptable time. With testing, school, and other situations this week, I can not start. For today I have looked more into planning for my filming process. For my filming, I will be using the same equipment I used for my previous films. This includes my canon camera and stands. Because my tripod isn't super tall I will mostly be holding the camera by hand. With this, however, I will have to make sure my footage isn't shaky. When looking into opening sequences, the clips tend to be short. For my filming, I will record many different videos that I can choose from. This gives me variety. During the filming process, many of my scenes will be from a POV, close up, or wide shot. This will allow me to add titles onto certain parts of the "background". Additionally, I may choose to be the actor in my film. The problem with this is I limit myself to camera angles because I will not be holding it. So instead of me being the actor ...

Planning ( Title Design)

Image
Working on Titles  Fonts: Fonts will include at least 2 different types. Fonts I wouldn't include are ones that are hard to read very cursive. Some examples may include ( Title, Title, Title , Title, ).  Contrast: To stand out, I would have the titles be brighter/ darker than the background. It is important to have a large and bright font so the audience has a clear understanding. Spacing: The titles would at least have 2 spaces in between them. When putting multiple names next to or on top of each other, the film would seem overcrowded. Working title: at the ending of the sequence the final title will appear. This is when the two people meet each other at the light. I chose this scene because it is the point in the film when things make more sense. The titles on the screen will enter in many different ways. This can be one where the background has an effect on the transition. For example, as actor 1 looks at the package signature, the signature may be the title and nam...

Schedule:  3/1/2021- 3/14/2021 First through the second week of march begin filming. Filming could include the scenes without the actor if needed. And then in later weeks add the actor to the scenes we need. After all filming has been done I will begin editing. All my editing will be done by myself since I'm working alone. Editing can take place anytime after 3/14 unless time needs to be extended.  Location: For my location, I will be filming at and around my house. This would include the backyard, attic, or garage for the genre aspect. When filming at my house the actors and I would not have to worry about social distanicing in a busy area.  Participants: All of my participants are close friends or family.
