Filming blog

On Sunday, November 1st I started filming different clips for my commercial. I first had to decide whether I wanted to take the shots on my phone or with my camera. I ended up using a little bit of both and took extra clips. Just in case I preferred the quality on either device I used what was best in the moment. I gathered all the props needed and kept it by a table near me to easily access. One of the props I used was peppers since it went with the theme of "hot". The peppers were a good prop because they added contrast, color, ad I was able to use them in a rotation shot. I found today was pretty cloudy so I couldn't take all my videos from outside if I wanted to use natural lighting. During my filming process I incorporated many backgrounds. I was able to use sheets of paper that were around my house that matched the colors of the product. Once I began setting up the different layouts I switched out the product a couple times using different colors of the sauce. I took up close and panning videos of the bottles trying to make it stand out. Additionally, my commercial used 3 actors.  I had to ask my family to join in and help since we did it at home. I had the actors dress casual and filmed a short clip of them passing the product. During the clips we had to make sure we grabbed the tabasco from the same spot the other person handed it off at. It was pretty confusing at first but I will also be able to edit the clips to align with each other. A problem I faced was lighting. Lighting was sometimes dark so we had to add in lights or tried out using led lights so there were different colors. Most scenes I hand held the phone or moved it around. If I wanted a really steady shot I would lean it against a heavy object and keep it at a straight angle. The process took a while to get the hang of so I will need to be retaking clips as well.
