Introduction to the Music Video Project


 For our new filming project I am doing a music video! For this project I am sort of nervous because I will need to come up with a good storyline. For the music video will be choosing the song "September" by Earth, Wind, & Fire. This song falls in the Disco/Soul & R&B category. It was hard for me to choose a song and pick an idea but I tried my best to finally choose one that would work best. I chose the song September because it's an old song that I grew up listening too. Because the song is fun and upbeat I thought I could come up with some fun filming ideas. This song was released as a single and was made in 1978. When I first thought what to do for this project I had a different genre. the genre and year was more 2000's but I found it was hard to choose what I actually wanted to do. I finally decided on a song and that's when I changed it to "September". For this project I chose to work individually. I chose to work alone on this project because I knew it would be harder for me to meet up with a group during this time. I didn't want to not be able to give my full participation and have problems if something happened with meet up plans. In the future I would like to work in a group because I believe it's good help and you can all share different ideas. During the process of getting started with my music video I will work on time management as well as new skills. Since the song I chose was created in the 1970's I will research the popular outfits and props to go along with the theme. So far I plan to "switch time" in this music video and create a cool flashback effect. I'm excited for this project and hope that it turns out well in the end.

Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

Storyboard scenes 1-12 In my first scene actor #1 will be in the frame either wide shot or mid shot. Actor #1 will be holding a picture and a behind the back angle will be slowly be zooming into her closer.  In the second scene actor #1 will still be in the shot but only from the waist up. As the song is starting out the main part says "do you remember" this will be symbolized through the video as Actor #1 is remembering her night on September 21st. Frame number 3 will now have a up close shot of her hand. When the shot is up close you can now clearly see the two people standing in the picture. The picture is warm and colorful and looks as if it was at a dance. The photo is know extreme up close and is in the same position. As the video goes on you can see that the photo comes to life. Production Blog ~the importance of scenery

  In the process of my final task, props and settings will be very important. Many of my titles will fall onto props that I use. By this, I mean from the transitions of the different names. This will be done during my editing process. For example, when the camera cuts to a box, the titles may appear inside the box as the actor opens it. This creates fun transitions that use elements of the plot. During filming, I'll take multiple clips with different items. This allows me to have options for the backgrounds. The titles I include may also match the color of the prop. During certain scenes the setting may be the sky, so an example of matching titles is a dark blue or even white font color to represent clouds. Additionally, because the sequence is 2 minutes, the dialogue can't be very long. The dialogue will contribute to the setting and tone of the film. Creating a clear dialogue is the main objective.
