Editing Music Video~ the flashback~
As I uploaded all my film to my computer, I made sure I had all the clips I needed. Now it was time to begin editing! For editing I used the software app my teachers showed me called Clip Champ. As I first started uploading my clips I noticed that the time was over 1 minute. Because the video had to be 58 seconds to 1 minute I was worried my duration would be too long. As I began editing however my time then shortened and I ended up being underneath the time mark. By adding transitions and filters I was able to end on the right time. While editing I had both high key and lowkey lighting. The high key lighting when editing came from my first scenes where I filmed outside. The second lighting (lowkey lighting), came from when I filmed the middle of my music video which was the dancing scenes. When editing these scenes I thought they came out fun and colorful. from the use of my disco ball prop I was able to add pops of colors. Additionally, during the end and beginning scenes I filmed over the shoulder. This allowed me to get a up-close and high shot of the prop actor #1 was holding. I ended up including a variety of different transitions as well as special effects throughout the video. These came from changing lighting, zoom in transitions, and an effect called 'radical' which created little boxes. What I found most difficult was my flashback scenes. As my video idea was to have a reminiscing effect of the "21st night of September", I edited a zoom in onto the photos as actor #1 was looking through them, it then flashbacked to the night as the photo went closer to the screen. Moreover, editing on my computer was easier this time because I had practice and knowledge from filming my previous project (my commercial). As I come to the end of creating my music video, I hope my editing and filming was able to convey the overall story of the song and video together.
