Genre Research : Ma

 •What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? 

- The movie was suspenseful, in the beginning, Ma, the main character seemed like a good person.  You learn pretty quick that there is something odd or off about her.  Some of the scenes give you a little bit of anxiety as to what's next.

- Eariness throughout the film as the storyline played out.

- The director included a variety of angles.  He used wide angles to show the entire setting (usually parties) that the students were throwing.

- Included reaction/pov shots when something bad would happen. 

- Like the movie Ma, I may include a turn in events. This can be either in the middle or the end of the sequence so the audience sees a switch in tone and setting.


•What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like?

- You don't know until the very end that Ma befriended the students to get back at the parents.

- It kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what Ma was going to do next.

- The movie seemed relatable to an extent as it has to do with high school students.  

- The thriller aspect of the movie showed that you can't trust everyone you meet. The students were easily tricked by her because they knew she would buy and do stuff for them. The director was able to show the cluelessness that these students were experiencing.  


•What elements of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?

- MA murdered people in the film and in my project I wouldn't include murder in this case.

   Hi, my name is Jenna Lytch, I am a student at Fort Lauderdale High school, and I'm in the 11th grade. After completing 2 full filming projects I am now on my final task! Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

Storyboard scenes 1-12 In my first scene actor #1 will be in the frame either wide shot or mid shot. Actor #1 will be holding a picture and a behind the back angle will be slowly be zooming into her closer.  In the second scene actor #1 will still be in the shot but only from the waist up. As the song is starting out the main part says "do you remember" this will be symbolized through the video as Actor #1 is remembering her night on September 21st. Frame number 3 will now have a up close shot of her hand. When the shot is up close you can now clearly see the two people standing in the picture. The picture is warm and colorful and looks as if it was at a dance. The photo is know extreme up close and is in the same position. As the video goes on you can see that the photo comes to life. This photo is now "moving" because Actor #1 had a flashback. In scene 5 you can now fully see actor #2. This actor is seen putting on a record for the music. Scene 5 is still up for d...

Production Blog ~the importance of scenery

  In the process of my final task, props and settings will be very important. Many of my titles will fall onto props that I use. By this, I mean from the transitions of the different names. This will be done during my editing process. For example, when the camera cuts to a box, the titles may appear inside the box as the actor opens it. This creates fun transitions that use elements of the plot. During filming, I'll take multiple clips with different items. This allows me to have options for the backgrounds. The titles I include may also match the color of the prop. During certain scenes the setting may be the sky, so an example of matching titles is a dark blue or even white font color to represent clouds. Additionally, because the sequence is 2 minutes, the dialogue can't be very long. The dialogue will contribute to the setting and tone of the film. Creating a clear dialogue is the main objective.
