  • The titles shown in the opening sequence are the entertainment association, title of the movie, casting, title sequence, production, costume designer, director and executive producers. 

- What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? 

  • Water, blood, hawk, and eyes are symbols incorporated of the thriller to come.
  • All the images shown are short videos clip, these clips eventually lead up to a mid shot of a blonde girl centered in the camera talking.

- What connotations do these images carry? 

  •  Cape Fears states its metaphors are ....
  • liquid — as a physical setting and a moral quicksand.
  • eyes and eye-lines — surveillance, judgement, but also human connection.
  • the color red or blood — rage, sacrifice, and collateral damage, and.
  • predatory alpha behavior — manifested as a hawk in the sequence, and as Cady in the film.

- How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset? 

  • The film gives a feeling of thriller as the short videos in the sequence are al mysterious and strange.

- What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience? 

  • I believe the strategies of the colors and editing appeal to the audience. This is because you don't have much of an idea what exactly is going on so it's up to the audience to interpret it in their own way.

- How has technology been used effectively? You want to consider camera angles, transitions and editing techniques.

  • The technology has effectively shown the dimensions and eeriness of the film. The editors use low-key lighting and dark colors so you cant see to well of what is being shown. Additionally, there are  a series of timed cross-fades transitioning from day to night.
