Final Task: Effects of Titles

 Last week I had a 3 day weekend. I was able to do add onto research for editing. What I mostly need to work on is uploading. The last time I uploaded stuff to my computer it didn't take too long but I had more space. Because I have the film from my previous project on the computer I will have to make some more room. Also because this project is longer than the commercial I will have way more clips. This weekend I also visited the titles websites again. These websites were, "art of the title" and "watch the titles". For many opening sequences, they used different transitions. When I went back onto the editing app I'm using 'clip champ' they have a "credits roll" feature I can use. Some of the features on Clip Champ are useful because I can slow down the entering and leaving of my titles. Additionally, some of the opening sequences on the art of the title didn't have many transitions. This was because what was shown in the background had greater visuals. A lot of these titles were also just in white. This may be from the low lighting in the film so it needs contrast. Additionally, in one of the movies called Alef, the titles on the screen were very small. They never put the title exactly in the middle, but usually off to a corner. Only until the very end of the opening sequence, they put the name "Alef" big in the center. This will most likely how my final title will also appear.

Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

Storyboard scenes 1-12 In my first scene actor #1 will be in the frame either wide shot or mid shot. Actor #1 will be holding a picture and a behind the back angle will be slowly be zooming into her closer.  In the second scene actor #1 will still be in the shot but only from the waist up. As the song is starting out the main part says "do you remember" this will be symbolized through the video as Actor #1 is remembering her night on September 21st. Frame number 3 will now have a up close shot of her hand. When the shot is up close you can now clearly see the two people standing in the picture. The picture is warm and colorful and looks as if it was at a dance. The photo is know extreme up close and is in the same position. As the video goes on you can see that the photo comes to life. This photo is now "moving" because Actor #1 had a flashback. In scene 5 you can now fully see actor #2. This actor is seen putting on a record for the music. Scene 5 is still up for d...

Research Blog: Music Video Conventions

 The song I chose called  "September" was created in 1978. This song was known as being catchy and it even reached number 1 on the US R&B chart. Because this song was created so long ago many of the outfits and themes has changed. Because this song falls in the R&B and disco category many techniques were used to give it that "soul"  effect.  Some examples include A narrative and story line structure, this means the song and video lyrics of the song usually has a story to go along with it. In this genre the singers would dance around and preform on stage. This meant that the camera angles would range from up close, to mid, and to long shot.  Because most Disco and R&B singers would dance on stage the music videos would usually be filmed during a concert. For example the song I am doing was filmed while they were performing as a group.
